Empowered from what I expect, based on Kayle, means the total amount of Power added to units.
From what we think Assimilate means that if you have Darkin Equipment on like ur characters (but still haven't gotten that Darkin) you will automatically get the Darkin no matter how close you are in reaching their transformation.
So combine it with his passive (which gives him all non-champions Darkins + reduced cost by 5) and you get interesting results.
For Praa The Breachwalker, the 'Transform' word would cover the scenario if she were pulled by Anaakca. Because Praa would be drawn as a weapon and need to Transform into a unit in order to attack.
And then when the ferocious world ender levels up he gets turned into a manatee.
I think Empowered is like buff that Unit to X (X is written beside empowered) power/health/stat. That would make sense and fit with "Empowered".
And Freljord Ramp deck has received massive supports let's gooo.
About Assimilate, that would probably mean transform all Darkin weapon equipped allies into that Darkin. Yeah agree that Aatrox himself seems underwhelming, maybe he could be put into a deck just because of his Origin and take advantage of having multiple Darkin weapons in your deck? Idk, let's wait and see how top deck builder deal with this.
Btw, FYI, Acoustian is quite possibly Seraphine dad. First her fan, now her dad is also in the game, that's wholesome from Riot. He can be much better if he's a 2 mana 2-2, but I think Riot don't want to make a similar mistake with Fanclub President so they preemptive "nerf" him by giving him 3 mana? Idk, that could be a possibility.
Believe I saw this somewhere. Assimilate should transform your normal allies equipped with darkin equipment into the darkin minions. Which could be powerful if you're running a bunch of cheap minions and tokens with darkin equipment
