Now they need to make him a champion in League instead of just reworking another old champ into a discount Darkin with no new voice lines or interactions to match their new lore and their old voice lines feel like they belong to a character that doesn't exist anymore

Something really interesting here is that despite all the despair and tragedy, Joraal was still a Darkin, and like all the remaining Darkins he was sealed away in his weapon by the Aspect of Twilight after years and years of conquest and war.
My point is, don't forget that Joraal wasn't even close to a good person in his last days, there is definitely pity to be had for him (and all the Darkins to be honest) but after getting corrupted by the Void, all of them commited unspeakable atrocities, the only thing left to do is slaying them to put them out of their misery.

I don't know if anyone else who suffers through trauma feels the same, but this audio really strikes deep in me. Sadly many of us feel this way but it's less endearing and inviting for comfort when in person. People romanticize this yet often find us intolerable and not worth the effort of saving or healing. We need this kind of love and support but are so wounded and broken most break us further, abusing us and throwing us away, or giving us hope only to disappear and remind us the cold void we can't escape from. Usually it's our own pain that pushes others away, through fear or stirring a pain in others we don't wish for. Trusting ourselves, our thoughts and judgements, is terrifying and feels impossible when all outcomes have lead to where they have. We don't want to be victims. We don't want the poison we've been plagued with to propagate. We don't want to suffer. We don't want to burden anyone else with our suffering. We want to be whole again, but the distance between what's left of us and what remains is terrifyingly difficult to know. We've tried, and we're trying, and it's so difficult..I hope some of you can find that happiness and salvation we so desperately cry for…

Hearing Aatrox's voice line for Joraal is amazing because it shows how Aatrox cares about his soldiers instead of being a single faceted "big bad" edgelord
From the summon you can imagine him being one of the ascendant being at the very Front of the war against the void as he readies his shield and order his mens and womens to do the same only for the Void to not only pierced through the weaker links easily but also corrupt Joraal forces left and right of him as he couldn't do anything else but Hold The Line.
Darkins….such tragic figures and yet….. so dangerous.

Xolaani can control other darkins at her final form, aatrox called every last soldier that needed help AND he needs help from.
And really said, it is their last war.
Somehow I imagine everyone got controlled by xolaani and aatrox could have fought everyone and him being a general answered their wish.
